Our Move to Carseland
by David Marshall

We moved our home here just like the building above is being moved.

We moved it here to be lived in with a well beside it and our grown up kids nearby to look after us. We moved here to get away from traffic, noise, pollution, and bad smells. We moved here to be among people like ourselves who like our way of life, animals, the beautiful land and waterways, and the pastoral scenes that bring us closer to our spiritual reality.

We found that something called BFI is threatening our home, our water, our wildlife, our dreams and our families. We are afraid and angry and now we are fighting for our lives against what we see as a pack of garbage printed on BFI paper. We will fight it because it does not belong here. The beauty that is Wheatland County may be irreparably damaged by this thing that will grow in the field at the intersection of Highways 22x and 24. It must be investigated for what it is and then beaten back whence it came.

Our story will be told here. It will be a good story because of the people who live in our community. Our friends and family like a good fight, but this one has earmarks of something sinister, especially when the brochure that BFI is passing around is read carefully. They make vague promises with no substance in my opinion. I haven't met anyone who believes any different and that is a relief. I can't believe anyone would be misled by the kind of stuff this company is trying to pull over the community's eyes. I sure hope not.
